CELEBRITY NEWS: POPULAR SINGER CONCEALS PREGNANCY BY WEARING BAGGY MEN's CLOTHES

Posted by Ozgist

CELEBRITY NEWS:
Mommy-to-be Ciara recently revealed that she's close to her delivery date, but thanks to this Lanvin Menswear Fall 2014 ensemble, we wont be able to tell.

Last night, she successfully camouflaged her baby bump in a pant suit while walking the red carpet of the MusiCares pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles.

Just a few weeks ago, she stated that her maternity style was 'comfortable and baggy' while revealing:

"I kind of want to take the theme that 'baggy is the new sexy.' I don't know, I just want to be comfortable. When I can't wear heels anymore, I won't wear heels. My Jordans and my Uggs will be my best friends, but it's all about being comfortable. Of course, I like to get sexy, but I believe that pregnancy within itself is sexy and I don't believe I have to show you that I still can be. I kind of like it actually not being about abs and all that stuff. I really love this phase that I'm going through in my life and I just want to live in it. I just want to be a 'mommy-to-be.'"

ENTERTAINMENT GIST: DORIS ONYEMA LOOKING STYLISH

Posted by Ozgist

ENTERTAINMENT GIST:
Doris Onyema is a fast growing celebrity make-up artist in Lagos. Though she studied Mass Communication, the passion for Make-up artistry has always been running in her.

This influenced her decision to delve into Make-up artistry after graduation. She was trained at the Unveil Institute, Lagos. This boisterous and amiable lady talks to Azuka Ogujiuba of ThisDay about her Passion. Enjoy. In case you missed Doris's previous posts on this blog, find it here and here.

How did it all start as a makeup artist?

When I was in school, I spent my pastime making up for my female friends in the hostel. And I won the hearts of most of my female friends with my little make up skills. This prompted me to enroll at Unveil Institute in Lagos. So, after I graduated from Unveil Institute, I was employed by Bunmi Oyeniyi as a makeup instructor after which I was made to head the Institute.

What was it like working for Unveil Institute? What did you learn and how has the experience influenced your work?

Working for Unveil Institute was very challenging and it helped to develop and sharpen my skills. But most of all, I was able to carve a niche for myself and create my own identity.

When did you realize you could adopt makeup artistry as a career?

After I finished my training as a makeup artist at unveil, I went back to my salon in Ogun State. I had a salon school and I combine my salon with my makeup artistry. My boss later called me for a job in Lagos and when I met her, she told me to work for her and that it would help build my career in the makeup industry. So, I went back to school and thought deeply about it and few months later I started working for unveil. I worked for her for a year and six months after which I quit the job to set up my own make up company called Beauty Switch. That is when I realized that there was something else out there for me.

What makes your own work unique and how did you develop your own style.

I found out that my work was unique when people started telling me. At first, I was surprised but then everyone said the same thing, I became convinced. I did not realise I had a style until people pointed out a common denominator with my images. It's funny when people start with their craft and say what their style is. Others ended up telling me what style they saw .

Then, I sat back and looked. I ended up realizing later what my style was. Before hand, I made the conscious decision not to look at the makeup that others did. I did not want to sub-consciously have someone else's work in my head. I think that as an artist, it really helped my work and style grow into my own. Sometimes my photographer, 'Di Act Photographer' will show me a reference on what he wanted, but I will ask questions to find out the basis for the elements he wanted and make it my own. What makes me unique is the way my makeup jobs transform my clients, because I must not make my clients look like a drama queen before I'm a makeup artist.

Name your five top makeup brands that you work with most times?

Unveil, Mac, Nyx, Sleek and Black Pp

Which is your favourite kind of make up?

I will choose bridal make up because I like the switch I do to brides. They always come out amazing. To all my clients, I always give them a beauty switch but I love the outcomes of my beautiful brides.

Which celebrity dead or alive would you like to work with?

In Nigeria, I will love to work with Omotola Jalade Ekehinde or Genevieve Nnaji, while I will be challenged to work with Beyonce on a global level.

Who in the world will you like to dine and wine with?

It will be Oprah Winfrey. She's an icon I really want to spend time with her.

Which star in the world you like to flip through her phone?

I think that would be Rihana.

Which celebrity in the world do you think has a near complete perfect lifestyle?

That should be Beyonce, because she has a good career, family life and loved by many around the world and devoid of scandals

Which celebrity in the world do you think has the sexiest body?

I will still go to Beyonce.

If a fashion police searches your wardrobe, would you be arrested for any fashion blunder?

Well, probably, because no one is perfect. But I know that the sentence will be very light

Who is Doris Onyema?

Doris Onyema is an enigmatic make up artist who is very grounded in her job and does it with style and ease. I'm a God fearing lady and very friendly. I'm easy going and very passionate about my job.

How old are you?

I am in my early thirties.

Tell us about your background?

I am from Imo State, but was born and raised in Lagos. I had my secondary school education at Eric Moore High School, Surulere and proceeded to study Mass Communications at the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun State.

If you are to go on an island for an exotic weekend, what are the five things you will take along?

My bible, phones, makeup box, camera and toiletries.

What is the most memorable valentine gift you have ever received from a man?

A beautiful necklace

Are you in any relationship now or when are you planning to walk down the aisle?

Of course, in a relationship and will soon tie the knot

What does the word 'love' mean to you?

It means being selfless, total dedication and submission to my man

What is your most expensive fashion accessory?

It's my shoe.

What is your fashion fetish?

My makeup.

What do you crave about all the time?

It is doing makeup on my clients. It gives me joy.

Which is the most favorite part of your body?

My hips.

What is your present blackberry ring tone?

Heaven sent by Keisha Cole.

Apart from your job, what else do you like to indulge in?

I will go for Beyonce

Which designer will you love to wear his or her outfit?

I will love to wear Jimmy Choo outfits.

Who is your favorite designer in the world?

It's Coco Chanel.

CELEBRITY NEWS: TRUTH ABOUT D'BANJ AND GENEVIEVE's RELATIONSHIP

Posted by Ozgist

CELEBRITY NEWS:
Inside sources have confirmed to them that there is no intimate relationship between Nigeria's top entertainer D'Banj and A-list Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

And even though they keep hinting at having a relationship in public events like the Nigerian Breweries Plc's sponsored event tagged, Club Ultimate, these shouldn't be used as evidence that the celebrities have rekindled their love because it's all publicity stunt.

The duo get to appear in public seemingly displaying affection for each other, but the source said there was no intimacy.

"D'Banj and 'Gene', as Geneveive is fondly called, once dated. They were dating when D'Banj paid Genevieve N2 million to feature her in Fall in Love video, before they parted ways. Since then, they have been best friends,"

D'Banj (32) has been romantically linked with different ladies, notable among them were Jennifer Obayuwana, Ini Edo, Nadia Buari, Sarah Ofili, among others, but the entertainer said he is yet to find the right girl. While Genevieve Nnaji (33) was also said to have had a liaison with top celebrities, including Kunle Coker and others.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: COOL Fm OAP BLASTS CELEBRITIES SAYS"THEY WEAR FAKE" + HE's GOT WRISTWATCHES WORTH $200,000

Posted by Ozgist

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
Now when we see people in the entertainment world blast others, then it gets more interesting to us, lol. Here is what Freeze said, when he was asked how many wristwatches he owns by a reporter. He also spoke about how Nigerian celebrities wear fakes.

"Not like how many, like how much.I have maybe $200,000 in wristwatches. What I am wearing now is a Rolex Daytona, I got it from Polo for Christmas. It cost about $30,000. Polo is Nigeria's only authorised dealer, so I bought it from the company and I love it.

First thing first, for all the entertainers putting up pictures of their accessories on Instagram, can they please tweet the receipt from an authorised dealer. Trust me, I have seen too many celebs wear fake stuffs.

You can tell that they don't know what they are wearing. Of course, there are a few brand names like D'banj, Don Jazzy, P-Square or Wizkid that would not wear fake.

I have seen them wear good watches. But there are some other people who I have seen wear funny looking pieces.

There was one particular musician that I saw wearing a Rolex and the gold was fading. Rolex never uses gold plates, they use pure gold. If you see anything gold on a Rolex, it is pure gold. When I saw that, I was disappointed at the musician, especially because of the level of respect I had for the musician.

There is no such thing like buying a Rolex with a credit card. You can't buy a Rolex with a credit card; who are you? Diddy? For you to be able to walk away with a £20,000 watch, you would have a substantial amount of money in that card."

CELEBRITY NEWS:
Former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria who later became a rapper, Munachi Abii in an interview talks about how Men started eyeing her as a teenager, her relationship.

What have you been up to lately? You haven't been in the news recently. Is it a deliberate decision?

Yes it is a deliberate decision. I'd rather be in the news for a good reason. A good reason would be something positive. My video for No Tomorrow just got released, so I'm promoting that.

You recently changed your hair colour to blonde. What influences your style?

Before now, I had not found the right shade of blonde for me. But we decided to try something new for my video and this shade worked, so I decided to work with it. I would say my true style is still evolving.

Who was your first crush?

I think Michael Jackson or Bruce Lee. Michael was my love. He could do no wrong in my eyes. He was perfect, black or white. I'm attracted to super humans.

At what age did the love letters and advancements from men start in your life?

I never really got love letters. Advancements from men began in my teens.

So how was it coping with their advances at such a tender age?

That's easy. We always had lines for the boys and the young men; the 'I will think about it' to the 'I'm sorry I have a boyfriend line' was always there.

Are you in a relationship?

Yes, I'm super emotional. I love love, but I've always been afraid of love. But this time, I decided to let go. I haven't looked back since.

Now, you were variously linked with Peter Okoye and later an 18-year-old boy. How true is this?

All those stories are not true.

So where did those stories emanate from, how does your boyfriend handle such issues?

You tell me? You are in the media. You know how people make up stories to sell or become famous. There are no issues for him to even consider handling.

Read Excerpts below

On Ojuola: "My wife is a pillar. In a lot of ways, she is my strength. She is a very strong and wise woman. She is from an amazing family; she is an absolutely supportive person. She and I have been friends for many years, without knowing that that friendship would lead to marriage. Apart from taking care of the home front, she has contributed to the success of my career. She is a passionate person who knows how to drive me to success. I feel so fortunate, so lucky to have someone like her as my companion."

On when he'll have a second child: "When you talk about children, nobody goes around to announce when he is going to have his next child. You don't live life under that kind of pressure. I think, for me, the most important thing is that I am living a good life, and at least, as a starter, I even have a child. You know what that means. There are many people looking for children, and God gives to them at His appointed time. I believe there is abundance of children in heaven, but God gives them out at His appointed time. So, whatever anyone sees now, let them just take it. I think God is answering the prayers of our heart, whether we have a second child or not."

On how he recognizes his son: "Of course, you would know. I don't think you need to be a scientist before you know. Although, I won't bring science into it, because I may not have facts to support anything that I say in that direction. You will definitely feel it, whether you see or not. I don't really know how to explain it, but you would know. I don't think everything about life could be explained, some things are just what they are. They are mysteries of life. As far as I am concerned, I know when my child comes around, and I don't think that's difficult for me."

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: ETISALAT Vs GLO AMBASSADOR "GENEVIEVE NNAJI & D'BANJ MAY BREAK UP"-CHARLES NOVIA

Posted by Ozgist

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
Nollywood critic and movie producer, Charles Novia who is known for always having a say in controversial issues has shared his opinion about Genevieve Nnaji's new endorsement deal with Etisalat and how it might affect her romantic relationship with D'banj, Glo ambassador.

Read what he said below

A couple of days ago, there was an excited buzz on social media in Nigeria that Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has been signed on as one of the new Brand Ambassadors of Etisalat, a telecommunications company operating in Nigeria and sundry parts of the globe. Amid the congratulatory messages from her fans sent to her on some sites, a few cynical remarks caught my attention. (By the way, congrats Ms Nnaji!)

One commentator simply known as 'Da Trut' wrote in one of the comments section in a blog which I reproduce here;

'Congrats, Genevieve. But wait o…your Boyfriend, D'Banj is a Glo Ambassador and now you are an Etisalat Ambassador. It has been reported that two of you will marry this year after being live-in-lovers and dating steadily for a while now. Since both of you have not denied this piece of news, I assume that it is true. With this new deal of yours, does it mean you cannot attend any show sponsored by Globacom in which D'Banj is a headliner despite him being your BF and you being expected to support your beau? And same goes for him too in any of your Etisalat sponsored shows? Won't your relationship be strained by this?'

However nosy this comment may seem to some people, there is an underlying fact which many celebrities and of course the general public have overlooked when it comes to signing brand endorsements. Most of these contracts, if not all, are watertight for the artiste. The dos and don'ts imposed on the artistes could be argued in a civil rights court of law! But then, most artistes are quick to sign off the dotted lines basically because of the lump sum being paid to them by the competing brands. Which is all well and good too, depending on how you look at it.

And don't get me wrong. I wholly commend all the brands cashing in on the perceived goodwill and traction many of these celebs have and investing in their art and to a large extent, the entertainment industry. These brands have uplifted the creative industries through such investments and the industry is the better for it. Really, it is.
However, a glaring reality is coming to the fore and many may laugh it off right now but it is staring at us in the face.

In 2013, many of the live events and sponsored concerts were tepid in performance value. Many of the top acts had been signed by one telecom brand or the other and since the headliners in the music industry have divided their brand endorsements among various telcos, many could not perform for friends or business concerns where a competing telco or brand was a major or support sponsor. This was basically because of watertight caveats in the artistes contracts which forbids them from attending such shows. Thus, most of the live concerts in 2014 in Nigeria were either lacking in major star power or just repetitive in talents signed on by the brands. And the performance value of such events were basically average. Many of the brands which had campus shows suffered this fate.

In October 2013, the Nollywood Movies Awards held at the posh Intercontinental Hotel, in Lagos. Comedian Basketmouth had been hyped as the compere of the evening, supported by Dakore Akande. I was standing at the red carpet lobby, interacting with invited guests as we had cocktails when one of the organisers, Alfred Soroh, came up to me. He whispered to me that there was a problem and it had to be solved urgently.

Apparently, immediately Basketmouth came out of the lift and saw a huge backdrop with Etisalat written on it, he quickly dashed back and refused to compere the show. His reason was that he was a Glo Ambassador and could not be seen on an Etisalat sponsored show. It makes sense. When I asked the organisers if they didn't think it out before deciding on Basketmouth as the compere, they explained that Etisalat came in just a few days to the event. Segun Arinze, a tested and trusted hand, had to be drafted immediately to co-compere the event.

The example above is one of many others which are a usual occurrence. My gut feeling is this; the business will grow for the brands but the whole performance and event industry may very well suffer for this. For example, if a movie awards event had MTN as the major sponsor and 50% of the nominees are Glo Ambassadors, only an idiot would need explanations on why half the nominees would not be present at the awards even if they eventually won. Same goes for music awards events. This cycle is becoming predictable. And the performance value suffers for it.

But there may be those who would argue that the brands are capable of sponsoring their own events with only their brand ambassadors as headliners. I concur but for every show such brands sponsor, it becomes predictable. I would know that any MTN show would have Wizkid, KCee, Davido, Don Jazzy and other ambassadors as performers just as a Glo event would have MI, Bez, Lynnx, Omawunmi, Burna Boy, D'Banj etc as performers. Truth be told, when you watch them once, you have watched it all. Bring them up again in another sponsored show, even for free and many would reluctantly attend just as many would not. Performance value.

Brand Managers reading this may well snigger at this but I would advise that they meet with their counterparts in other companies suffering this same problem and iron out a few of these issues. Artistes must be free to attend other shows of competing brands as long as they don't endorse the sponsoring brand nor endorse their own brand in such shows. Harmony is needed. The entertainment industry should not be cannon fodder for the corporate wars. In 2014, we all must enhance the performance value. (By the way, that phrase is my coinage and I think I like it.)

The artistes themselves must step up their game. There is too much emphasis on the cars they buy or the shoes they wear by their publicists, which is not bad by itself but it gets overdone and sometimes come out in bad taste. Artistes should be seen to be adding value to their lives and the society through more of personal social responsibility programmes rather than personal 'I don buy am' publicity stunts.

Granted, how they spend their money is entirely their business but the people out there don't really know how they MAKE their money most times. And it's not from shows or endorsements only as they are made to believe. Story for another day. What I am saying is; how many of these new generation artistes have impacted positively on the moral conscience and inspirational equity of the youths? Very few. In music, almost none.

In Nollywood, just a cosmetic impact. Story again for another day.

But I am not going to knock anyone in this write-up. I commend the dedicated efforts we all have put over the years to build the entertainment industry to this level. But the level is still in a pre-foundation stage.

The structures are lacking. As we like to say all the time ' but we will get there!'. Where 'there' is is as good your guess as mine.

And my opinion is basically, my opinion.
